Martlets Split Meet

With the heart of the season underway, the Westminster Swim team took a trip to Williston last Saturday where they faced a dual-meet against the formidable Suffield and Williston squads. After a grueling 4 hour long battle, the Martlets managed to sneak away with a win against Suffield, taking it 54.00 to 39.00 for the boys and 56.00 to 34.00 for the girls. But would ultimately fall to a depth filled Williston team 40.00 to 62.00 and 40.00 to 57.00 respectively, resulting in a 1 and 1 record on the day.

The girls demonstrated their strong teamwork with an impressive showing in the relays taking first in the 200 Medley (Ellie Pearman ‘25, Hayden Schneider ‘25, Jennifer Weber ‘26, and Sunshine Li ‘26) as well as podium finishes in both the 400 Free and 200 Free (Claire Hansell ‘29, Cameron Perillio ‘29. Lily Raskind ‘25, and Ellie Mallett ‘29). These scores were bolstered alongside strong individual performances from captain’s Ellie Pearman ‘25 and Hayden Schneider ‘25 who managed podium finishes in 200 Free, 100 Butterfly, and 100 Back. But it was only thanks to crucial last minute points from Westminsters Sunshine Li ‘26 and Lily Raskind ‘25 who contributed with strong second place finishes in the combined 100 Free, 50 Free, and 100 Back that the Martlets were able to find such success.
